Trimming Trout

Race Across America solo rider Jim Trout receives a haircut Wednesday afternoon from his son Oscar after reaching Time Station 34 at Washington's Revolution Cycles. Trout dyed his hair red, white and blue prior to the start of this year's race. After reaching 1,000 miles, the white side was cut off. Washington was past the 2,000-mile mark, and the blue side was trimmed away here. That leaves him with a red mohawk for the rest of the way to the finish in Annapolis, Maryland.

As of Thursday morning, Trout was fourth in the Solo Male 50-59 Division.

Riders started to reach Washington Tuesday and Wednesday was the busiest day with 13 solo riders or teams reaching Time Station 34. The final competitors are expected through by the middle of Friday morning.
