The grandson of a man shot and killed at his home outside Washington Wednesday morning has been charged with murder.
Jeremiah Bair, 25, Washington, was charged Wednesday afternoon with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of his 86-year-old grandfather, Harold Humphrey.
According to Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton, deputies arrived at Humphrey's residence in 2700 block of Newport Road, at 8:41 a.m. for a report that someone had been shot.Deputies located Humphrey in the kitchen of the home,.Bair and the victim's wife were at the home when deputies got the scene.
Pelton said the grandson had arrived at the residence about 8:30 a.m., an argument ensued between Bair and Humphrey, Bair allegedly shot Humphrey in the chest and then called 911. He waited at the home for law enforcement officers to arrive.
Bair is being held in the Franklin County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only.bond.
