Much has been written and said about a possible Russian connection to Donald Trump during the presidential campaign last year. In fact, a special counsel is investigating any possible connection now. However, we haven’t heard or read much about Hillary Clinton’s connection with Russia several years ago.

As we all should know by now, most of the Big Media treats the Clintons with a “hands off” policy as far as anything negative about her.

It was fairness-encouraging to read an article in The Wall Street Journal this past Tuesday by Peter Berkowitz, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. It was under a headline that read: “Comey and Mueller Imperil the Rule of Law.” The headline referred to former FBI director Robert Mueller and another former FBI director, James Comey. Mueller is heading the investigation into possible ties between Trump and Russia.

What Berkowitz disclosed was that as early as 2009, when Mueller was the FBI director, the agency had “gathered evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laudering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States.” The FBI kept the information from Congress and the public, according to the Hill publication (in Washington, D.C.). The FBI had this information even as Hillary Clinton’s State Department in 2010 approved a deal that transferred control of more than 20 percent of America’s uranium supply to a Russian company.

The Hill also reported the FBI had documents showing that during this period Russia engineered the transmission of millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation!

“The revelations only heighten anxieties about Mueller, the FBI and the rule of law,” Berkowitz wrote. Comey was a high FBI official when Mueller headed the agency.

Berkowtiz wrote that Comey, when FBI director in 2015-2016, played softball with the Clinton investigation into her use of a personal computer server and classified data found on it. He permitted Clinton and her aides to destroy evidence and granted generous immunity deals to her advisers, according to Berkowitz. Comely did admit Clinton was “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information.

“With Trump, by contrast, Comey is playing hardball even after leaving office,” Berkowitz said. He added that Comey’s investigation of Clinton “reflects a determination not to prosecute systematic and obvious unlawful conduct.”

The hold the Clintons have had over the FBI and Justice Department indicates the power they had, and still have.

Mueller, as a special counsel, has wide investigative range. His past record as an FBI director who withheld information about the Russian uranium deal, and the connection with the Clintons, from Congress and the public, certainly stirs up a lack of trust in him.

The Democrats are supported by many of the bureaucrats who would like to bring down the Trump presidency. When two former FBI directors, one of whom was fired by President Trump, “imperil the rule of law” it is cause for concern, as much so as any threat President Trump is to our republic.

During the campaign, Trump referred to Hillary Clinton as “Crooked Hillary.” Many Americans believe that is an accurate nickname.

That uranium deal may turn out to be a major scandal!
