Working With Wool

At one of last summer's Pioneer Museum Saturday demonstrations,  "Working With Wool" instructor Suzi Vause (in yellow) showed Makenzie Silman (in purple) and granddaughter Nicole Freeze how to make a felted flower, while Nancy Wyrck looked on.

Readers of this blog may recall a story about the Pioneer Museum in Ellsinore (see "While in Van Buren Area, Visit Pioneer Museum" on June 11, 2105). The tiny museum's prime attraction is the summer series of visiting artists and performers. Each Saturday, there are demonstrations, performances or other live presentations at the museum. The museum also supports local gatherings such as cemetery reunions, a rural tradition.

Here is this year's calendar, in time for your summer wanderings. If you're down near Van Buren or the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, it's easy to make a detour to Ellsinore.

The Pioneer Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays from June through August. There is no admission fee, but donations are appreciated. The museum is at 11 South Herren Avenue in Ellsinore, 63937; it is one-half mile north of Highway 60 on Route V. For more information, call the museum at 573-322-0102.
