Mr. Stokes. I did check out the little website that you suggested and found that it is a leftwing blog and not an afficial site of the Texas government. I was suspecious of it witht he .org domain insted of the .gov. I've been in and out of Texas many times. I have great friends who live in Texas. All of them have great paying jobs. Your argument about Texas stilling Jobs goes against you. Companies are moving there becuase of cheaper taxes and yes cheaper wages. Guess what they are leaving the Union backed states becuase they can't afford to stay. This means these unions are going to unemployed in those states.5 months ago
Funny, a drunk can get in a car and kill innocent people but nobody directly blames the car or alcohol.
A person can be texting on a cell phone and kill innocent people, but again, the blame does not go to the cell phone or the car.
Yet a certain type of gun is used in a senseless killing and the blame does not go to the man who did it but to the gun he used.
I realize laws have been made concerning the two above. For instance it is ok for a person to be drunk, but not drive while doing so.
Same thing about texting or using a cell phone. It is ok to do so but not while driving.
Well guess what, we already have a law concerning guns. It is ok to own guns, but not to use them to kill people! That is where the law should end, becuase that is the only way it will apply to the criminal and not to the law abiding citizen.5 months ago
Hope Well Hill isn't dangerous at all. The idiots that think they can go up and down it at 60 mph and pass on a curve are the ones that are dangerous. Save the tax payers money. Drop the speed limit down to 35 mph about a half mile on top and bottom of the hill and enforce the limit. If a driver is caught doing more than 5 mph over fine them for speeding and charge them for driving reckless. It will become a well known speed trap and drivers will slow down and the road will be much safer.
By the way the last thing we really need on HWY 47 is more traffic. 6 months ago
Take away personal property tax and maybe people won't complain as much about the sales tax.9 months ago
Yes those evil republicans are preventing people from voting by making them show a photo i.d. The world must be coming to an end. This presedent has been the only one in history that has been attacked for having a difference in politics especially during election year. Bush had it so easy he was never attacked from the left about anything. It is all the Republicans fault that we are in the economic mess becuase the Democrats didn't have full controle of all the branches of government for two years. If you have never seen such disrespect of the office in 77 years, this most be the first time you have ever paid attention. Our maybe you have selective memory.9 months ago
Way overboard on the water conservation. I lived in the desert for four years. There we were always under a water conservation, but they didn't prevent you from watering your lawns or close the pools. They limited the times of day and how long you could water your lawns. The pool is alread filled with water. I realize that some will have to be replaced from people getting in and out of the pool, but really how much? They could at least open the pool on the weekends.10 months ago
Nice artical on the "Forgotten War." In my on openion the reason so little is said about it or written about it is becuase it is overshadowed by the two wars that surround the Korean conflict. As you said WWII had just ended, and we weren't even done fighting in Korea when we started sending troops into Vietnam.

McCaskill is a hypocrite. To compromise on any position that you hold is sell yourself and those who you repersent out. If you are against earmarks, than you should be against earmarks and not allow them when it benefits you. Grid lock in congress is a good thing for America. If we could have had grid lock in 2010 Obamacare, the largest tax in the history of America (which McCaskill was a major proponent of), would not have passed.11 months ago
So let me get this straight. You want our kids to get high on marijuana? Your end doesn't justify the means. Even if you legalize marijuana, their are those who are still going to experiment with other drugs. You can see that even among all the illegal drugs avalible.11 months ago
Robert you seem to think that people are "obsessed" in condemning the sin of Soddomy. The only reason it has been elevated above other sins is becuase it is continually shoved down our throats as if we have to accept this lifestyle that God clearly condemns.
This so called pastor is living in sin, and the church is living in sin for condoning his lifestyle. Some might say that we should not judge, but there is a difference between "judging" and decernment. Here is an open sin that God has declared a sin. Its not as if people are wrongly accusing him of living this lifestyle, he openly admits to it.
Jesus Said
"Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with theee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witness every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen and a publican." (Matthew 1815-17)12 months ago
