Are all those drink cups and fast food bags from that one car? Good lord! Makes me wonder if eating had something to do with the crash...6 months ago
Hans, no I'm not. Views are my own, that's all.9 months ago
@jaycee -- are you aware that the fair board all have to buy their tickets too? So, shame on the fair organizers for not allowing themselves into the fair for free too?
There is NO WAY people wouldn't take advantage of free tickets if this was the case. People would flock to become "volunteers" if they knew there was something in it for them. Who's to say people wouldn't volunteer, then just not show up? Take their free ticket and run? How could you even prove a volunteer ticket was legit? Should a fair official hold their hand as they walk them to their vender's stand? The whole idea just creates so many extra problematic scenarios. Pay your $25 bucks (or just buy a pass and volunteer on a random day) and get over it!9 months ago
When you have thousands of people who need to leave an area all at the same time, and there are only a few roads or a few ways to leave, I don't care how much planning has been done, there is only so much they can do. Personally, I felt the evac went so so. Yeah I have my gripes about parts of it, but I think it most likely went as best as it could.

You can never truly know anyone else besides yourself. If we did, then we could predict when a spouse is cheating, when the straight-A student becomes an addict, why some people just 'snap', etc. Don't claim to know the facts either way, because only she knows what happened or didn't happen.10 months ago
To Liberal-Hating Christian;
While bashing the supposed God-haters, you didn't even realize that you painted yourself and others as (sticking with the hyphenated theme here) closed-minded, Bible-quoting fools.
You imply that if a prayer to Allah or the earth would happen, there wouldn't be such "hatred and vitriol" over it. I'm
confident I can guess someone who would raise some hullabaloo over it: you.
Maybe I can't quote the Bible like you can, but I'm still a believer in Christ and regular church-goer. Based on what I know about Jesus, didn't He embrace people that were not like him? Didn't He tolerate, forgive, and reach out to sinners and believers alike, challenging his disciples (which would include me and you) to do the same?
Every religion has at least two things in common: encouraging good instead of evil, and believing their god is the one and only "true" God.
Think on that. Maybe ask yourself "What would Jesus do?" next time you want to criticize another one's point of
view with such hostility.11 months ago
