Modular classrooms are a waste of money, but I blame the irresponsible parents of the students in the Washington School District. If parents would exercise their "American Rights" and vote, the WSD may be in a better place. Don't tell me that the parents did vote and voted the previous proposal down, because less than 25% of the WSD parents voted in April. That's a true disgrace.......As discussed in a previous article in the Missourian, the modular classrooms are leased and the state requires that the modular classrooms be updated. So the real waste of money is that the WSD has to pay for the modular classrooms out of their general operating fund rather than the debt levy money. The debt levy financing is like financing a house or a school building over 15 years...Smart....paying for modular classrooms out of the general operating fund annually....not smart....but they are doing what the "Voters" will allow. Finally, take the time to talk with a "Upper Echelon" person at the WSD. You will find that they do care about the students. The WSD also operated at the state MINIMUM of students to administration ratio....8 months ago
