Ok, the letter has been received from the FAA and it says no to closure because of past neglect of the airport. I can read the misinformed comments now, those dirty rotten pilots made sure the citizens of St Clair suffer for their play around time and now St Clair will progress nowhere because of them!
This article specifically states.
“ The conclusion goes on to state that “attempts to cast the existing situation as the result of a lack of proactive measures by the city are unwarranted.”
On the contrary, the letter specifically states.
"When evaluating a sponsor’s request to close a federally obligated airport, the FAA considers a number of pertinent factors. These factors include the sponsor’s past and present compliance record and its actions in making the airport available for aeronautical public use. In light of the FFA’s concerns about the City’s apparent unwillingness to maintain St. Clair Regional Airport available as a usable airport, the Agency will not consider closing St. Clair Regional airport."
I guess this is the perfect time for the City to start asking for entitlement money to fix up the airport or think about turning this debacle over to the county to take care of. Either way the City just lost one of the most important assets a city can own because of its malfeasants

There are so many things I would like to see happen here but the one most important of all will be the Missourian (St Clarian) admit to the misleading propaganda from city Hall. The cards will fall in their prospective places but the truth remains, the City messed up bad thinking the airport was just something they can do whatever they want with it. The pilots tried to tell the truth of closure but the administration wanted nothing to do with them. So go ahead and blame the tenants but the biggest obstruction was always the Administration.
I cant wait to read the letter from the FAA. Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Ok?...... I think I get it now. This is a replay of the movie, (Ground Hogs Day), only we keep reliving or reading of how the City of ST. Clair is doing all they can to close the airport.
The only reason the airport hasn’t closed yet is because of the City’s direct neglect of the airport.
I think the presents of an electrician fixing the runway lights at the airport last week should be an indication of some sort of an FAA response?

I find it hard to believe this is the only news the Stclarian can report when the weather is exceptionally nice.
Maybe the Stclarian should report on how the electricians progress of the replacement of the airport’s runway lights is progressing. That’s right, the city is actually spending money at the airport rather than complaining about how the tenants at the airport are a detriment to the community.
I suggest everyone to call City Hall about the progress of the reconstruction of the airport is going.
Now how far off is the closure of the airport?

Whats really sad is that the pilots gave very good advice of being compliant to achieve their goals about four years ago, if that advice would have been taken seriously, Washington would be building two hangers instead of just one for the 24 pilots already waiting in line for hangars space, Sullivan would probably have started a new hangar project also, Whats really sad is that you and notconfused voice your opinions, that is nothing more than false propaganda confusing the casual reader.

These people actually think it’s the pilots fault that the airport is dilapidated?
If the administration is claiming such high costs running the airport, then why is the airport in the shape it is? When did it become the pilots responsibility to maintain the airport? You cant claim expenses without incurring them.
The feds are going to come down hard on these folks in the coming weeks and I hope the Missourian is just as happy to report about this as it is reporting the demise of the airport.

I truly look forward to hear your views in the coming months when you are forced to spend your diverted monies back to the airport! This airport will be here for a long time, you just as well get used to that.

If the great City of StClair keeps abusing the airport the FAA will take it away from them and give it to some other governing body, they’v done it to other city’s before and they wont hesitate to do it again. St Clair signed contracts many years ago to keep the airport viable and the City has spit it the FAA’s face. What this means is not only will you not have an airport but you wont have the precious ground it sits on either and the airport will still be thriving under new owners. Then what will the great City of St Clair do, build their precious strip mall somewhere else? Wow what a great idea.
You don’t hurry along an Environmental Assessment, every airport is different but I do know that the City will spend the amount I stated to get it done right.
So you see, you are the only selfish person here, not to mention the most misinformed!
