I'm not sure why it is "obviously more meaningful" for anyone to ask a question the way you would like it asked, rather than the way they would like to ask it .......
I (and likely you) also would "obviously" rather be asked only questions that show me/us in a good light ....... Romney doesn't like being asked about his taxes (whether they are relevant or not); Obama doesn't like being asked about Unemployment (whether that is relevant or not) .......
......... but that isn't the way it works ...... people can ask any question they want, no matter how dumb ....... the questioned can then answer truthfully, untruthfully, try to change the subject, or walk away ........
