I have to agree with Romulus, No matter what you do there will be complaints from both pro and anti. There is no way this speed limit would ever work. The only reasonable solution would be to put passing lanes on both sides of trail or a seperate path to the side of trail for those who do ride at a faster cadence. I think that imposing a speed limit is far ineffective and quite frankly a waste of time of City Officials as it will resolve nothing. 7 months ago
Romulus said: "And it's why people shouldn't rely on a 'shuttle' or anyone else for their own personal safety and/or comfort. Make your own evacuation plan."
I had my evacuation plan in place, it was a shuttle and as far as not relying on the shuttles that is nonsense. The fair has shuttles in place so that people can rely on reputable source and can have easy access to Fair which is far more convenient than parking 3/4 of a mile away in a field.
When I am at the Fair it is the Fair Board, Police, and all other Security Officers responsibility to ensure the safety of all fairgoers under any circumstances as that is what they are hired/volunteer to do!

cont. from previous post...........Now I am seeing on the news how they are crediting Wash T&C Fair for the successful evacuation and evacuation plan. I personally think that is comical. I was at fair Saturday night with my 4yr old daughter watching the Micro Sprint cars. I had rode the shuttle and was watching for a bus once they had thrown the red flag cancelling race due to inclement weather . Never was there mention the storm was severe or where to turn to for shelter or where to wait for arriving busses that was sheltered from the storm. Instead we stood a line waiting for 20+ minutes in the pouring rain and crazy lightning waiting for a bus that should have been waiting for us. 9 months ago
They knew inclement weather was forecasted and they had already shutdown the motorsports arena however we had to stand for 15 minutes in torrential rain and lighting waiting for a bus. There were 2 busses at the Gate however they werent driver occupied. With the advance notice of inclement weather you would think they would make it a point to have busses ready and waiting versus fairgoers waiting on busses. I realize the fair board is busy and not to take credit away from them as they do an amazing job, I just think they lacked in the preperation of a quick and efficient evacuation!9 months ago
"Maybe this TV series will showcase the professional and well trained unit that on a daily basis!" Not only is this a bad idea for the area, I'm sure its providing a financial gain to "The Unit" and thats what its all about, It's not about the people or the community, get real! Everyone already knows where the METH capital, lets go make it a Brand Name. Come one, Come all! You could gets hats made, t-shirts, bumper stickers, window stickers, postcards, etc. Look at the bigger picture its not all about the fame and money, which seems to me "The Unit", you specifically is more focused on.
How about this quit focusing on petty marijuana offenders. Stop wasting other agencies time and most importantly us taxpayers money by housing these non violent offenders. I'm not asking anyone to be an advocate, however in your 21 years you have to realize the non violent offenders(aka marijuana users) really have to be last on list and least invasive and harmful(yes less harmful than alcohol and scrip drugs) considering the meth and heroin epidemic.
Do you realize the local, state, federal tax dollars the taxation of marijuana could provide? Which that money in turn would help fund "The Unit" and other such task forces and agencies to fight drugs that actually really do harm people. Such as METH, Heroin, XTC, Cocaine, Bath Salts, Prescription Meds, Alcohol, etc.

"The man, however, stated that the child was left in the apartment while they went to the bar and that they were gone about four hours, the sheriff reported."
Well if he also knowingly left the child unattended and went to the bar with the mother, I believe he should be charged also. I understand its not his child, but had something happened to that child and he knowingly could have prevented it just goes to show he is as guilty as the mother. He was with the mother and the mother had custody of that child I beleive they are both responsible for that child whether he is biological father or just an aquaintance.

Not only that, I read that the search ended at 1:30ish in the a.m. and resumed at or around 10:30 in the a.m. Wow what a window of opportunity, 9hrs to maneuver without being tailed. Apr 26, 2012
"Police arrested two people, two men and one woman" Really? Who does the editing, So were 2 people arrested or 3?Mar 2, 2012
In response to "take action" comments, obviously you arent paying attention to the ballot initiative yourself. This would only allow those 21 and up to legally purchase and/or medicate. For those who are under the age of 21 nothing will change, it is readily available now, will be if iniative passes and always will be. If they(underage) want it, they will get it regardless if it is legal for those over the age of 21 or not. Their are many MIP(minor in possession) of alcohol weekly, monthly, yearly. Alcohol is legal for those over 21, but those underage still have access. There is no stereo-type for a user, it could be your dad, your kids soccer coach, their teacher, your boss, your neighbor, your trash man, anyone, anywhere. There is no face to marijuana use. Even those who don't use are beginning to support because it is an absolute source of endless income.
I have always been pro-marijuana, as I believe America had it all wrong by bringing alcohol out of prohibition and making marijuana illegal. Not only will it provide "billions, yes billions" to our economy, but it will also be 1 step closer to start shutting down cartels and the illegal tranfers of drugs across our border with Mexico.
Now this is my opinion and i strongly feel this is the right thing for Missouri to do and I know deep down this iniative will pass given the chance.Feb 1, 2012
I hope she makes a full recovery and our prayers our with her & those closest to her. As much as I dont like saying this, I am suprised these types of accidents dont happen more often. This should have a limited speed limit as do school zones, I know lady whom hit her probably wasnt at fault, however had she known that was a drop off zone it may have slowed her a little more. There are these types of areas such as in front of Pawn Shop on 5th St. When there are cars parked on both sides of street and people/children crossing it is a very trecherous place. Another location is on E. 5th St. where there is another daycare, I have caught myself going too fast through there but if there were a sign I would be reminded. I think the owners and the city should band together and see if an agreement can be reached to allow signs being placed in these such zones(even if at owners expense) too help prevent such further tragedies.
