Why the heck do you need to pray before a meeting? Why not say the good ol' Pledge of Allegiance instead? 11 months ago
I can't believehe dismissed the claim that the public did not have opportunity to discuss the Labadie site!!! I was there...the council was adament noone talk specifically about Labadie! What does the judge need...witnesses?? Funny how the council did not bother to record/ document all the meetings....isn't that required? This whole landfill is a sham and noone was allowed to specifically dispute the landfill in Labadie.....I encourage you all to read the Franklin County "Master Plan"...this landfill goes against everything in it!11 months ago
"R-u-serious"...uh, parents are paying for preschool, guess you did not know that.
"shellyg"...that is what the money was going to be used for, to spread it out amongst the existing dwellings we have.
"Washmotaxpayer"...obviously you are not familiar with the real estate market which is primarily driven by school district, thus, which affects the whole community (business and personal). Apr 5, 2012
What a SHAME. Did you all who are stuck in the orignal purchase purpose of the property even read the proposal and why building a new high school does not fix the problem? Did the people who not even have children in school read how this benefits you as a property owner for resale and property value purposes? Did you not see the local jobs this would have created and talent you could have cultivated from the progress?
I grew up in West County and all the bells and whistles of a new high school don't grow a district as a whole and help all students in need.
So, now that you have rejected it, what is your proposal? Keep in mind, we need to enhance the DISTRICT, meaning spread out the money, don't put all your eggs in one basket just to "Keep up with the Jones' " and have a pretty new high school. Isn't that what makes Franklin County the place to be? Because we don't want a West County fascade? Apr 4, 2012
Getting back to basics here, I would think any proposed utility waste or non utility waste landfill site should be "harmonious" to the surrounding area. Isn't that why the Board denied the Quarry request? It was not "harmonious" to the surrounding neighborhood. So, let's just take Labadie as an example (even though Ameren supposedly has no application pending, whatever) the surrounding town of Labadie is not harmonious to a utility waste landfill. Labadie has increased residentially, not decreased, therefore, there is no justification to commercially increase the area. Nor is this action in line with Franklin County's supposed Master Plan.
Let's not forget the safety issue, there are only 2 ways to Labadie, Hwy T or MM, neither route is forgiving nor conducive for increased industrial traffic along with the fact there is an elementary school right there!
Then there is the resale value issue, duh!!! Who the heck will want to move to Labadie? It's like moving into The Simpson's cartoon town.
I would think Franklin County would like to be more appealing to their surrounding neighbors instead of junking up the area more?
It is not that hard people to use some common sense here, and maybe it is time to do something different!! Jan 6, 2011
Thank you Missourian!
I cannot believe the County has let this go this far. I am outraged that the County wants to set itself and be depicted as Springfield from The Simpson's! Why did FC even write the "Master Plan"? This completely contradicts what the Master Plan says.
As a Labadie resident I am even more upset seeing as the Labadie Power Plant doesn't even supply the electric for Labadie! Now we may have to suffer the consequences..property value, health and not to mention road safety. The local school bus route is dangerous enough on Hwy T, now they want to make it worse?
Seriouly....where is the common sense these days! Sep 27, 2010
