Our hearts go out to all the boy scouts who have been ******** abused, they never deserved to be treated so inhumane.
Child *** predators need to be kept far away from kids forever...
BUT, an even more powerful danger is when high ranking officials enable, empower, and cover up these crimes against kids. They need to be held accountable for allowing more innocent kids to be ******* abused. It is and was a crime to ******** abuse a child.
Child *** abuse thrives in secrecy and secret systems that allow it to continue to this day.
Keep in mind that child predators rarely have only one victim. So if you have been harmed by anyone in the Boy Scouts, Churches, or any institutional setting, your silence only hurts, and by speaking up, contacting the police, and exposing the truth, there is a chance for healing, and protecting others.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests,) is the worlds oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims.
SNAP was founded in 1988 and has more than 12,000 members. Despite the word priest in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers and increasingly, victims who were assaulted in a wide range of institutional settings like summer camps, athletic programs, Boy Scouts, etc.

It takes a ton of courage to come forward about being sexually abused as a child, We hope the survivors of Jerry Sandusky realize that they are heroes for our children today. They have stopped this serial child predator, and they are to be commended for exposing the ugly truth and getting Sandusky away from kids forever. Hopefully if there are others who have been harmed by him or child predator, they too will have the courage to come forward, break their silence, get help, and start to heal.

The similarities between the *** abuse cover up at Penn State and the Philly Archdiocese are astounding. The cover up goes straight to the top. How do these high ranking officials live with themselves?
It is completely unconscionable that so many adults knew about Sandusky ***** abusing kids, and yet not one of them went to help the children.
There cared more about their jobs, their image and their institutions. And look what has happened?
The victims of Sandusky, Penn State, and of the Philly Archdiocese are to be admired for their courage in speaking up and getting predators and those who cover up these crimes against kids, locked up and kept away from children forever. The victims are the brave souls who care about protecting kids.
The laws need to be changed to protect innocent kids, There are many more officials who need to be put behind bars.
Hopefully everyone who saw, suspected, or was harmed by Jerry Sandusky or anyone in the Philly Archdiocese will find the courage to speak up, contact the police, and start to heal.

This victim is very brave and to be commended for speaking up to expose the truth, this is not an easy thing to do.
Let's hope that every person who saw, suspected or suffered abuse crimes and misdeeds by this teacher, Traci A. Storie, will find the courage and strength to speak up, call police, expose wrongdoing, protect kids and start healing.

Thank you for this terrific article... people need to get educated about child *** abuse, and it does happen more than we think, most cases the victims are still too afraid to speak up for fear of not being believed. Also the laws need to get changed to be more child protection friendly instead of being predator friendly. The statute of limitations needs to be removed for child *** crimes.
Something to keep in mind-
Child predators are very cunning and manipulative. They know every trick on how to groom, threaten, lie, and put the fear of god into their victims and sometimes even their family members.
They also appear to do a lot of goods things, they can be very charismatic and you may think they would never harm a child. They have to be this way, in order to not get caught and to continue to abuse
Child predators are often powerful and well-loved. It would be comforting if those who preyed on the vulnerable were obvious social misfits whose appearance would somehow set off alarm bells and give us ‘the willies’ or ‘the creeps.’ They rarely do. Usually, predators are among the last people we would suspect of violating others. At a party, the predator isn’t some oddball sitting alone in a corner because others feel uncomfortable with him. Most often, the predator is the guy throwing the party.
We must overcome the dangerous myth that because someone is successful or warm or caring, he or she “couldn’t have done that!
Also, we must stop thinking that because a man is old, that somehow he’s automatically “safe.” It’s just irresponsible to endanger kids by assuming an adult is “harmless” simply because he or she may be losing hair, wearing glasses, using hearing aids or walking with a cane. These can be signs of advancing age, but they are not signs that an individual is safe around kids.
It is extremely rare that a child predator has only one victim. Hopefully if anyone has knowledge or may have been harmed by anyone, especially in an institutional setting, they will contact the police. Also, the secrets and the cover up has got to get stopped, this is happening in the Philly archdiocese priest abuse trial that has gone on for 10 weeks now. Kids never deserve to be treated so horrific. It causes a life sentence of pain, trauma, and many times suicide.
Also keep in mind your silence only hurts, and by speaking up there is a chance for healing, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting others.

Yes, and at the very moment this report was being issued, an important child abuse trial in Philadelphia involving a high ranking clergy who has been charged with covering up crimes against innocent kids, revealed that West Virginia Bishop Bransfield is accused of abuse. Plus in Kansas City, Mo. Bishop Finn is ordered to go on trial in September for failing to report abuse.
These men who still believe they are above the law are beginning to realize they could spend some time in jail. So they assert their so called power even more. But, it won't work, the truth is finally being exposed.
I have volunteered my work with SNAP "Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests" for over nine years now. I have heard hundreds of horrific stories of abuse against children by clergy. I learned about SNAP after I found out that my brother and several of my relatives were abused by our long time parish priest in southeastern Ohio. I now live in Marthasville, MO, and I will not stop fighting for victims, exposing the truth, and therefore protecting kids.
The church hierarchy's credibility is extremely weak.
There is hope, help, and healing victims and I hope they know they are not alone... there are thousands who understand and know their pain.

Thankfully there is a judge who cares about protecting kids from child predators.
Plea bargains are a common way for child predators to get out early, and to not go to trial, where the full truth can be exposed.
To the young victim of James D. Dixon, please know that you are very brave, and that you are not alone..

Most child molesters are NOT strangers lurking in the bushes.. They are usually someone you or the child/youth already knows.
Child sexual predators are your best friend, neighbor, parent, clergy, teacher, scout master, relative, someone who emits a lot of power, or someone who is prominent and upstanding in your community.
They groom your child to get them to trust him/her. They sexually abuse boys and girls. They most often tend to pick those most vulnerable who will keep their secret tucked tight in the mind, body and souls.
Any child who is being sexually abused, or any victim who is suffering from being sexually abused need to confide in someone they trust... THEN.. most definitely the best thing to do is to contact the police and report it,
No one ever deserves to be sexually abused, and remember, it is NOT your fault.
