I couldn't agree more! 750+% increase is insane! In an economy where the price of everything is already going through the roof, we couldn't possibly afford even a larger tax. Granted, it is for tobacco prices, but it is a personal choice, just like eating junk food and fast food, drinking alcohol and other things that are not good for you. Vote No on Prop B and use the money that is already suppose to go to fund the schools, and fund them! At my sons school the other day and seeing how crammed in the building and individual classrooms they are because of growth in our area, was insane! My sons classroom used to be the school office. It now holds 20+ children, a study area, a computer area (complete with 1 computer, and they are suppose to have 3), and an area where are are able to have study groups. There is no way there is room for this! Take the money from the lottery and casinos and do what was promised and quit sticking it to the consumer/property owners...we are already strapped and struggling for everything.8 months ago
One thing that some people fail to realize is that this man is probably too proud to accept help! Could be embarrassed by his situation, or a variety of other reasons. I come from a large city, with a large homeless population. There are also shelters set up to help the ones that need/want help. They are not forced into some sort of institution or jail type facility. If the man is not harming anyone, leave him alone. He touched an arm...I guess the next time I am at McD's and the drive thru lady touches my hand while handing me my receipt, I should contact the police. She could mean more than just accidently touching me! Some people need to leave Washington once in a while, visit a large city, and see the amount of homelessness there really is in this world! One homeless man in grand ol Wash MO. shouldn't be the topic of a newspaper article! I am going to make it a mission of mine to locate this gentleman and provide him with some things that he may need for when the winter weather gets here and some food as well. Heaven forbid he visit a restaurant and someone with a heart buys him something to eat! 8 months ago
It doesn't but if you search their names online, it brings you to a social networking page that pulls up all sorts of pics. It shows a bunch of young people hanging out partying in the parking lot and in the rooms of the hotel. Google pulls up all sorts of things!8 months ago
Obamacare is the hugest tax increase given to the American people. It is also the biggest bunch of BS ever shoved down our throats by people who didn't even read the 2000+ page document. Physicians are scared to death over the plan and many are about to give up...if you think the insurance companies are difficult to deal with now, just wait until the government has their hands in it and has the ability to decide what is necessary care and what is not! You think I am wrong?? I have a bunch of friends who currently live in Canada and hate the medical care up there so bad, they come back home to get treatment whenever possible! Wait until the government has access to your medical records...lets see how easy some of the care that you would normally be able to get will now be denied due to lifestyle decisions! Wait and see! In January, when Mr. Romney becomes POTUS, hopefully it is the first thing that he does away with!8 months ago
What a couple of idiots! Taking pics outside the Gardenway Inn...looking like they have been up for days! Pretty sad when you have babies and you can't give up the junk long enough to watch them grow up. Thankfully, these menaces to society are off the street! Gardenway needs to be shut down...too many drugs cooked and used there!

bsmn35 is completely correct! That is unreal! I am truly afraid for our future with all the stories I read in the news! Nobody has any respect for anyone!!!!!!8 months ago
This is disgusting! Anyone who taunts a mentally challenged indvidual deserves whatever karma comes their way. If Pacific High School doesn't take this seriously and something as vile as this happens, they deserve to be sued to the fullest extent the law allows! One would hope that the kids would be kind enough to try to help her out of her shell and not do something to shove her farther in! This entire generation of kids are a joke and our future is in jepordy!

I agree with you 100%! I think it is insane that you would have to pay to get into the fair, just to volunteer! Whoever came up with that policy seriously needs to rethink it! I am not sure I would volunteer to go out and bust my hump for someone, especially if they don't have the courtesy to allow me into the place to work without having to pay 20+ bucks a day to do so! BOOOOO! and Shame on the Fair organizers who don't correct this with swiftness!!

I agree with "This Girl" 100%. There is no way, I for one, would want to see a video of someone losing their life needlessly!!10 months ago
@SummerGal @prbelle...when the officer seeing a car weaving, on a Friday night, or any night for that matter, it is a matter of public safety to investigate by pulling over the vehicle to see if the person is intoxicated or not. The 13 year old should have NEVER have taken the vehicle...for one, they are not licensed to drive and second, they don't have the proper training to operate a motor vehicle. When the officer attempted to pull over the car the kid would have been pick up and sent home with their parents...but instead someone else's daughter, mother, niece, and friend is gone way too soon. Anyone that is attempting to put the blame on the police officer should take the time to think about what the officer witnessed and how many drunk drivers and drug users driving under the influence we have in our community. He has a job to do and he was doing it. I sure wish that the outcome would have been different, but the accident wasn't his fault. I am sure the officer is suffering enough with this tragedy...lets not put undue blame on him.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Nothum family. They are great people!10 months ago
