Continued health and happiness Mr and Mrs Tobben. An awful lot to be proud of. Wishing you all the best, Gavin WoolleyNov 13, 2012

Who are the idiots proposing this amendment? Basing teacher performance on standardized testing is totally not fair to teachers who work with borderline students. They may come to school hungry form lack of food at home, they may be exposed to violence, drugs and a variety of other home problems that have a direct relationship to performance that a teacher simply cannot control nor overcome. It's the parents that must bear responsibility, not the teachers.Jan 17, 2012

Mr. Brad Hildebrand’s letter to the editor in the June 4-5 2011 edition of the Missourian requires me to enter the Nieves debacle. He states that he takes offense to the term “shock jock” used to describe one of his employees. I, on the other hand, find it deplorable that Nieves uses the “f-word” in different forms to berate a resident of the Missouri 26th Senate District. Spirited discourse has indeed been a mainstay to the workings of our democracy, but it must be done with civility, manners and respect. According to recent reports, Nieves displays no working knowledge of any of these traits.
On to the issue of bullying; you state that you were bullied as a child. Many people were at some time but it has absolutely no place in state government or in a conversation between supposed adults. Although neither charged nor convicted of flourishing a weapon Nieves is building a pattern of abusive behavior. I feel that we deserve better from any elected official.
Jefferson, Franklin and all the other founders of this great country had no intent for its business to be “inherently nasty”. Let me close with a quote; For when the One Great Scorer comes to write against your name he writes not that you won or lost - but how you played the game.

Perhaps this man could actually learn to spell. He is a prime example of the "Peter Principle" (he or she will rise to the level of their own ineptitude). It also amazes me how these men speak in the first person when talking about their agenda, seldom about what is good for their districts and constituents. When can we oust this fool?Apr 13, 2011
