This looks like a wonderful opportunity for our community to join together in a mission to support our children. I am familiar with how the tax revenue from this initiative is handled by resource boards in Lincoln, St. Charles and St. Louis counties. There is much accountability associated with how funds are distributed and monitored. They also closely track results, and funds are only administered to programs with proven track records. These programs benefit all children of the community with preventative and educational services, not just those experiencing poverty. Each child has an influence on their peers, and it is time to decide if we, as a community, are going to nurture positive influences and enhance resources available to families. Children today face a lot of adversity- bullying, drug use (specifically growing meth and heroin use) and teen pregnancy are issues very alive in our schools, and it is time to decide if we are going to turn a blind eye and let this town turn into a cesspool or if we are we going to ensures our greatest investment, our children, have resources to be socially and emotionally healthy. Happier and more confident children gain more from their school experience, make better choices, and influence their peers to do the same! I will be voting YES towards Putting Kids First in Warren County!May 4, 2012
