Wait a minute...so if the last proposal is full of waste, this reduced one must be, too? Where does that logic end?
This is a plan to use that acreage (bought under a previous administration, he said for the 30th time to apparently himself) - that's where the new school will be built. Sell that, and where do you build?
Just because voters turned the proposal down doesn't mean the district's problems are going away. There are (and will continue to be) more students than the district can hold with it's current buildings. They're going to be housed. The school will get built. It's either going to come out of a bond issue or, later on, the operating fund. If programs have to die to pay for it, that'll happen. Call it a scare tactic if you want, but it's still the truth. Washington missed the cheapest rate, we'll see just how much they want to pay. 8 months ago
Really? Two kids are hurt and you're worried about spelling? While you're at it, then, the words you meant to type were "familiar" and "their." Also in the context you implied, the word is "whose.
Now can we get some sort of discussion why there are so many accidents in May/ June every year?11 months ago
Please. Teacher's unions are the culprit? Never mind that there's a near-direct correlation with below-average districts and the local poverty level. It's teachers' unions. Whatever. Dec 24, 2010
So, as I understand your position - there will always be discrimination, so we should have kept it the official policy. "The fact is some gays are more comfortable staying in the closet?" For shame, Missourian. For shame.
The last standing arguments for homophobia and discrimination grow more and more desperate as they crumble and fall. My hometown paper is reduced to vague fear-mongering and hiding its backwards attitude in concern for "suffering."
There are always ramifications for any action, and for any inaction. Fear for what might happen is never a good basis for policy. If it were, mankind would still be in the caves. This is a good change in policy because it is the right thing to do - no more, no less. Worrying about what might happen is only the sour muttering of those that history will leave behind.
