I understand that smoking is an addiction, and a serious health issue. I also know that people with addictions what ever they are addicted to comes first in their lives. I am a non smoker, lived with a smoker for many years. He recently lost his battle with copd. I remember the nights when he would go out and buy a packet of cigarettes just to make sure he had some for the next morning. He would complain every time the price of a pack went up, this did not stop him from smoking. I am not angry that he smoked I am angry that when he started smoking, no warnings were around, teenagers thought it looked cool to smoke, now we know better. A lady once told me she would rather smoke than eat. If an addicted person only has enough money for a gallon of milk or a pack of cigarettes, 9 out of 10 would by cigarettes. I feel that some parents would choose what ever they are addicted to before food for their children. Higher prices are not going to stop smoking. What we need to do is keep pointing out the dangers of smoking to young people7 months ago

Yes I know why unions were started, due to many workers being exploited and treated unfairly, which is where we are headed back to now. I have seen how non union companies treat their employees having worked for Union and non union companies, I will not go into all the deatails of what I saw at a non union company where I worked. My son is working for a non union place in Franklin county, his vacation days are disgusting, has to work about 8 yrs to get 2 weeks off, at this time he finds himself stuck at this place, he worked at Chrylser. His benefits are now awful and he is getting about a quarter of his pay. The companies know that work is not easy to find, since we have so many items imported, and the American people feel they want to support Japan by driving Japanes cars. Please do not telll me they are a better car!!!!!!!! Check out how many recalls they have had . I am also under the opinion that a person running for the office of President of the United States , should not be much older than 60, yes I remember Reagon, and also remember pictures of him falling asleep at important meetings and toward the end of his time as President becoming senile .Some people thought him great, I for one did not like him, he tried busting the Unions. A follow up to a previous letter where I mentioned I did not have a lot of schooling, and feel is a reason for my not so good spelling I was the eldest of 7 children, each time a new baby came into the family I was the one who stayed home to help Mother, and help with the younger children,. The last pregnancy that my mother had was a hard and dangerous pregnacy.
NO chance of me going back to school.. I still think about that period of my life, as what if the Dr said let the Mother Die!!!!!! I may not have had a lot of schooling but I do have common sense.when it comes to Women's issuesNov 1, 2011
I do not know how old you are Katherine, I will tell you what a safe abortion is, it is performed by a Dr.so a women does not have to go to some backstreet,to get one, that many women have died from,!!!
