Scoring 23 points in the championship game, Cardinal Ritter junior forward DeAnna Wilson earned most valuable player honors Saturday at the Borgia Competitive Edge Girls Basketball Tournament.
Wilson also pulled down nine rebounds with one assist, one blocked shot and a steal as the Lady Lions defeated Borgia for the title, 51-43.
Wilson also had 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in the semifinal win over Parkway South and 12 points and nine rebounds in the first-round win over University City.
Joining Wilson on the all-tournament team from Cardinal Ritter were junior guards Ryann Haynes and Kori Tomlin.
Borgia’s representatives were senior guard Cassidy Moss and junior guard Grace Gettemeier.
“They work really well together,” Borgia Head Coach Stacia Houlihan said. “Cassidy is our go-to person, but Grace can be right there with her. Cassidy drives and Grace can hit a three. That’s a pretty good combination.”
Third-place team Parkway South placed senior guard Mia Patterson and freshman guard Grace Ellington on the all-tournament team.
Union, which finished fourth, was represented by senior guard Kennedy Reeser.
University City finished fifth and placed senior guard Michelle Shores on the all-tournament team. Tolton Catholic of Columbia was sixth and was represented by junior forward Amber Wright.
Ft. Zumwalt West, the seventh-place team, put junior guard Katie Pauk on the all-tournament team.
Rockwood Summit ended eighth and was represented by sophomore forward Jasmine Manuel.
