Tackling Kurtz

Borgia's Tyler Glosmeyer (6) and Adam Bell (24) try to tackle Gabe Kurtz in the first quarter of the Class 4 District 5 championship in Camdenton.

CAMDENTON — The only thing colder than the weather on Lake of the Ozarks was the Borgia football offense.

But that didn't keep the Knights from coming back to make it a game in a 24-13 loss to the Camdenton Lakers. Borgia made a run in the fourth quarter, but had to settle for second in Class 4 District 5.

Borgia finished at 10-2. Camdenton (11-1) plays in the quarterfinals at Webb City next Friday.

Borgia managed very little for over three quarters in the frigid conditions and that allowed the Camdenton Lakers to control the ball for most of the game. Camdenton scored the first 24 points, all in the opening three quarters.

Borgia scored twice in the fourth quarter, once on a Nick Dyson fumble return and once on a Louie Eckelkamp run. Cole Meyer set up the second score on a long gian after a pass reception.

Full coverage will be in the Wednesday Missourian.
