Avoiding the storms, the St. Francis Borgia Regional football Knights opened Archdiocesan Athletic Association Large Division play with a 49-21 win over Tolton Catholic.
Borgia improved to 3-0, 1-0. It was Tolton’s (1-2, 0-1) first-ever AAA Large game.
The game was paused for a considerable amount of time in the first half as Borgia senior Adam Bell was taken off the field by an ambulance after being hit making an interception. He was released after being checked out.
The game started two hours early due to the threat of stormy weather from the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon.
The Knights play next week at St. Mary's.
Complete coverage will be in The Wednesday Missourian.
