Matt Strong and Logan Uding both ran wild in a tight game at Festus.
Strong powered the Pacific offense with a pair of rushing touchdowns as the Indians (4-3) came charging back from a 14-point deficit to take the lead early in the fourth quarter. However, Festus (4-3) drove right back down the field on its next possession to tie. The score remained tied until Festus intercepted a tipped pass and drove to the end zone for the go-ahead score in the final minute. The Tigers added one more in the closing seconds to win 35-21.
Strong answered Festus’ second score with an 80-yard touchdown run that first looked like it would be stuffed at the line of scrimmage. That put Pacific on the board and cut the lead in half going into intermission.
Pacific dominated the third quarter and evened the score on a Jobe Courtney run from one yard out. On the next Indians’ possession, carrying over into the fourth quarter, Strong gave Pacific its first lead on an 18 yard touchdown run. The play was set up by Strong’s 36-yard catch where he drug a pair of defenders five yards into the red zone.
Uding answered Strong’s second score with his own second rushing touchdown of the game 90 seconds later. After Courtney’s pass was tipped and intercepted with two minutes left, Festus drove down and scored the winning touchdown in the final minute, again on a Uding run.
Pacific failed to recover the ensuing kickoff at its own 17, setting up Uding’s fourth and final score with 25 seconds left.
