For a day, the Union softball Lady ’Cats will return to the Union Sports Complex, hosting the Union Tournament there Saturday, Aug. 23.

Union is moving home games to the new Wildcat Field complex on campus, which has a turf infield, but the tournament will be played at its old home complex. The Union Sports Complex has two fields, which will make it easier to get the games played with a one-day event.

Defending champion Washington and runner-up Park Hills Central both are back this season. The rest of the field consists of St. Clair, Pacific, Borgia, Wentzville Liberty and Farmington.

St. Clair is new to the tournament this season and Liberty is a late replacement for Warrenton.

Action will begin at 8:30 a.m. with Washington taking on St. Clair on the North Field and Pacific playing Liberty on the South Field.

At 10:30 a.m., Union will meet Farmington on the North Field and Borgia plays Park Hills Central on the South Field.

Noon games will be in the losers’ bracket while the winners’ bracket goes at 1:30 p.m.

The consolation game (fifth place) runs at 3 p.m. on the North Field while the South Field will host the seventh-place game.

The championship will be played at 4:30 p.m. on the North Field. The third-place game runs concurrently on the South Field.
