Scoring early and often, the Union softball Lady ’Cats blitzed Salem Thursday, 15-0.

Union scored four runs in the first, eight in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth. The game ended in the bottom of the fourth.

“The girls played well,” Union Head Coach Tiffany Poggas said. “Everyone in the lineup hit, defense was errorless and Kelsie (Hardester) was fantastic in the circle. I don’t think I could have asked for more from them.”

Hardester held Salem to three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Elisabeth Scharfenberg tripled. Georgie Bray hit three doubles and Lauren Boyd added one.

Kaylee Bunch also had three hits. Sydney Eads, Amanda Downing, Trinitty Stevens and Scharfenberg each had two hits each.

Boyd, Hardester and Victoria Suerig each had one hit.

Stevens added a walk. Kyleah Stahlman stole two bases.

Union hosts Washington Monday.
