St. Clair High School’s five fall sports teams are gearing up for the upcoming season.
The football, softball and volleyball teams all have jamborees before the start of the regular season.
The Bulldogs host a jamboree Friday with Rolla, Helias Catholic and Poplar Bluff.
St. Clair and Helias both were in the Class 4 playoffs last season. Helias reached the state championship game, losing to Webb City.
Rolla was a Class 5 playoff team last season.
Cody McDowell’s Bulldogs look to replace a talented graduating senior class from last season’s team that posted a 10-2 record.
Many position battles are still being contested, which the jamboree will help determine.
One of the team’s top returners is senior Skyler Hutchison, who will be a starter at both running back and linebacker.
Returning all-conference tackle Jake Oermann leads the offensive line.
St. Clair opens its season Friday, Aug. 30, at home against Washington at 7 p.m.
Ron Hauck’s Lady Bulldogs will play their jamboree Saturday at St. James starting at 11 a.m.
The top varsity returners are seniors Karissa Hoffman, Alicia York and Marissa Laubinger and juniors Tori Martin and Sarah Hinson.
Hack believes the varsity squad will have an offensive presence, but needs to develop its pitching and continue to improve defensively.
St. Clair opens its season Wednesday at Wright City at 5 p.m.
Ashley Mims’ Lady Bulldogs play their jamboree Tuesday at Union High School.
St. Clair will play in a pool with Sullivan, Pacific and St. James.
The Lady Bulldogs’ 12-player roster includes seniors Sam Deason, Macy Levvintre and Kelsey Duncan.
Juniors on the team are varsity returner Allison Hinson, along with Emily Presley, Miranda Murphy, Hannah Krouper, Halley Cokley, Ivy Jones and Morgan Manning.
The team’s two sophomores are Katelyn Guehne and Abby Ruck.
St. Clair opens the regular season Sept. 5 at Potosi at 5 p.m.
Randy Roy’s Bulldogs have a large group of varsity returners from last season.
Among the varsity returners are seniors Spencer Crumbaugh, Zach Chaudoir, Austin Wells, Miguel Aguirre, Zach Zollinger, Reno Jones and Tristan Vansickel and juniors Terrance Stahlman, Brandon Weiss and Chris Algiere.
St. Clair opens its season Sept. 3 at home against Fredericktown at 5 p.m.
Ben Martin’s boys and girls cross country teams have close to 40 runners in the program this fall.
Leading the Lady Bulldogs is returning state medalist Lyndsay Hardin, a senior.
The Bulldogs are paced by returning state qualifier Tyler Hinson, also a senior.
St. Clair opens its season Sept. 6 at the First Capital Invitational.
