The Lady Bulldogs are rolling to start the new year.

St. Clair girls basketball (8-5) improved to 2-0 in 2019 and won for the third game in a row, defeating Northwest (5-10), 66-45 at home Thursday.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs have also won six of their last seven games.

St. Clair picked up 21 points in the first quarter, leading 21-15 at the end of the first period. By halftime, the Lady Bulldogs had extended that lead to 37-21. The score was 53-34 in favor of St. Clair after three quarters.

Erin York led the St. Clair offensive attack with 18 points. She grabbed seven rebounds with one assist and one steal.

Haley Buscher netted 13 points with three rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Gracie Sohn, Alana Hinson and Hannah Machelett each added eight points.

Sohn picked up eight rebounds and two steals.

Hinson grabbed three rebounds with two steals and two assists.

Machelett made two assists and one rebound.

Alohilani Bursey scored six points and led the team in rebounds with 11. She also made four assists and one block.

Ally Newton chipped in three points with two steals and one assist.

Annabell Coonse made one rebound.

Megan Fortner was Northwest’s top scorer with 17 points.

Sarah Roth added 10 points for the Lady Lions, followed by Jenna Roth (five points), Abby Wright (four), Lane Petry (three), Hallie Becker (two), Hannah Krebbs (two) and Jordan Owens (two).

Next up for the Lady Bulldogs will be a home conference game against Four Rivers Conference rival Owensville (7-5) Monday at 7 p.m.
