St. Clair followed its fourth-place district showing by finishing in the same spot in the team standings during the Class 3 Sectional 3 boys track and field meet Saturday at Ozark High School.

Helias captured the sectional boys title with 63 points, one point ahead of second-place Blair Oaks.

Bolivar finished third with 55 points and St. Clair was fourth with 43.

Borgia, Union, Pacific, Owensville, Sullivan and St. James also were among schools at the meet.

“I’m very proud of the athletes and events that got through. I was surprised that Terrance Stahlman did not make it in the long jump. He got through last year, but he scratched on three of his four jumps this year,” said St. Clair Coach Dave Purviance. “Rickey Grivetti ran very strong in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Spencer Crumbaugh did very well and is very consistent in the long jump. The 800-meter relay team set a new school record of 1:30.06. Our goal now is to run under 1:30.”

The top four finishers in each sectional event qualified for the Class 3 state meet, which takes place Friday and Saturday at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
