Rolla’s annual holiday basketball tournament will feature a battle of the Lady Bulldogs in the first round Thursday.

St. Clair (5-3) will draw the host school in the first round at 4 p.m. at the high school. Championship semifinal games from the tournament will be played at Missouri S & T with the rest of the games taking place at the high school.

St. Clair rebounded from a pair of losses to end the Stephanie Phillips Classic at Kickapoo, returning home to knock of Hermann in the Four Rivers Conference opener on Dec. 14. The team will come into the touranment after a two-week break.

Rolla (1-5) took a 55-47 loss at Hermann nearly a week prior to St. Clair’s victory over the Lady Bearcats. That is the lone common opponent they share at this point in the season. Rolla has lost its last two games after notching its only win of the season at Springfield Central on Nov. 30.

St. Clair and Rolla share their half of the bracket with North County, who will match up in the first round with another Four Rivers Conference school, St. James.

The Lady Tigers are off to a 4-4 start and play their first conference game against New Haven at home Tuesday.

The winners and losers from those two first-round games at Rolla will match up with their counterparts on Friday.

Other first-round games include Waynesville against Smith-Cotton and Lindbergh against Licking.

Trophy-round games will be played Saturday, alternating between the girls tournament and the boys tournament.
