Pacific Post 402 scored first.

But the Union Post 297 Senior Legion team pushed the next 11 runs across the plate Tuesday to defeat Pacific in Ninth District action, 11-1.

Union improved to 5-3 overall and 4-1 in the Ninth District. Pacific fell to 1-3 both overall and in the league.

Pacific scored its run in the top of the first inning. Devon Whitaker, who reached on an error, scored when teammate Ricky Ray reached on another error. Pacific played it aggressive on the basepaths, but had a runner tagged out trying to steal home to end the inning.

From there, the game went Union’s way.

Post 297 scored twice in the bottom of the first and added single runs in the second, third, fourth and sixth before getting the final five in the seventh to end it on the run rule.

Michael Bennett started for Union and went five innings. After the first, he calmed down to allow one earned run on two hits and one walk. He struck out nine.

On the other side, Pacific’s Ricky Ray went six innings, allowing six runs on 12 hits and two walks. He struck out six.

Logan West pitched the final two innings for Union, allowing a hit. He struck out one.

Matt Albers got the final two outs for Pacific, allowing five runs on four hits, one walk and a hit batter. He struck out one.

Tyler Pace led the Union hitting attack with three hits, including a double.

Drew Reed, Kendall Sheler, Gabe Luna and Deric Purnell each had two hits. Reed and Sheler doubled.

Also hitting a double was Logan Groff. Dawson Sickmeier, Nathan Sieve, Derek Foster and Bennett singled.

Union drew three walks with Sickmeier, Reed and Sieve getting free passes. Groff was hit by a pitch.

Sickmeier stole three bases. Bennett, Groff, Luna, Pace and Purnell each stole one base.

Jordan Cowsert singled twice and Whitaker added a hit. Caleb Trower walked. Three batters reached on errors.

Whitaker and Ray stole bases.
