Looking forward to a new challenge in 2018, the Pacific Swim Team Pirates have nearly 90 athletes on this year’s roster.
Kathleen Westfall returns as the team’s head coach this year.
“We have had a tremendous first week of practices,” Westfall said. “The swimmers are working hard and having fun. Our coaching staff and board members are coming together nicely for a fantastic 2018 season.”
Westfall is being assisted by Erin Nicol. Joel Virtudazo will be the junior coach this season. There are 73 swimmers on the roster at this point.
The dive program is expected to have 15 competitors and be led by Amanda Virtudazo, Grace Liebhart and Ainsley Virtudazo.
Westfall noted nearly 70 percent of the swimmers and divers are returners.
Pacific has been assigned to the Gateway Swimming and Diving League’s Spitz Division along with the other area programs, Washington and Union. Pacific will host both of those teams as well as the division championship meet.
The season starts Monday with a visit to Oaks Landing. All meets will start at 5:30 p.m. this season.
Washington visits June 18 and Pacific hits the road to go to Cherry Hills June 25.
The final road meet is at Arbor Oaks July 2.
Union comes to Pacific July 9 and hosts the Spitz Division meet July 14 starting at 7 a.m.
