Four Rivers Conference champion Pacific dominated this year’s all-league wrestling team, it was announced last week.

The Indians were awarded six of the 14 first-team selections after careful consideration by league coaches.

The Indians won the league title with a 5-0 record against conference foes in dual meets. Union, St. Clair and Sullivan tied for second at 3-2 while St. James was 1-4 and Owensville was listed at 0-4.

Pacific’s first-team selections were:

• 106 — Sophomore Vinnie Boyen (35-12);

• 113 — Senior Jakob Balleydier (35-12);

• 120 — Freshman Callum Sitek (42-6);

• 126 — Junior Noah Patton (43-7);

• 160 — Junior Nathan Murray (32-18); and

• 170 — Junior Jay Anding (36-2).

Anding finished second in Class 2. Boyen, Balleydier, Sitek and Patton qualified for the state tournament.

St. Clair was next with five first-team picks. They were:

• 132 — Senior Jason Landing (45-4).

• 152 — Junior Ryan Herman (47-2);

• 182 — Junior Aaron Herman (39-10);

• 220 — Senior Josh Richards (46-3); and

• 285 — Senior Trevion Henry (25-10).

Landing finished second in the Class 2 state tournament. Ryan Herman was third while Aaron Herman and Richards both placed fifth. Aaron Herman wrestled at 195 in the postseason.

Union, Sullivan and Owensville each had one selection. They were:

• 195 — Union junior Haiden Meyer (36-6);

• 138 — Sullivan sophomore Kobie Blankenship (43-13); and

• 145 — Owensville senior Dustin Jahnsen (39-13).

Meyer was fifth in Class 3 while Jahnsen was fifth in Class 2. Blankenship was a state qualifier.

The second team included three state medalists and eight other state qualifiers.

Members of the second team were:

• 106 — Sullivan freshman Dillon Witt (44-9);

• 113 — Sullivan senior Brendan Labbee (22-13);

• 120 — St. Clair sophomore Dalton Thompson (41-10);

• 126 — St. James senior Ty Lewis (36-14);

• 132 — Pacific senior Gage Kassing (38-8);

• 138 — St. James senior Thomas Henderson (49-12);

• 145 — Sullivan junior Isaac Peregoy (32-14);

• 152 — Pacific junior Ben Courtney (46-5);

• 160 — Sullivan senior Alec McCormick (42-18);

• 170 — Sullivan sophomore Evan Shetley (47-5);

• 182 — Union sophomore David Clark (29-19);

• 195 — St. James sophomore Cort Petty (26-11);

• 220 — St. James senior Drake Ortiz (39-10); and

• 285 — Pacific junior Trevor Heitsch (29-21).

Courtney was second in Class 3. Shetley finished fourth in Class 2 while Henderson was sixth.

Witt, Thompson, Lewis, Kassing, McCormick, Clark, Ortiz and Heitsch were state qualifiers.

Honorable mention selections were:

• 120 — Union sophomore Carter Sickmeier (30-16);

• 132 — St. James senior Mikey Crocker (49-5):

• 152 — Sullivan junior Ian Kilburn (21-9);

• 160 — Owensville senior Tanner Rector (29-11) and St. James freshman Zach Woodson (24-21);

• 170 — Union freshman Ryder Kuenzel (35-19) and St. James senior Cole Petty (28-16);

• 182 — St. James senior Nick Wilson (24-12);

• 195 — Owensville senior Colton Moore (32-15);

• 220 — Pacific senior Chase Kelemen (14-9); and

• 285 — Sullivan sophomore Tristan Brown (32-22).

Crocker was third in Class 2. Kilburn placed sixth in Class 2. Sickmeier, Rector, Woodson, Kuenzel, Petty, Wilson, Moore, Kelemen and Brown were state qualifiers.
