Tuning up for the next run in Four Rivers Conference play, the New Haven Lady Shamrocks defeated Warrenton in nonleague action Thursday, 54-42.

New Haven (13-7)  led 12-8 after one quarter, 28-21 at the half and 47-36 after three quarters.

“We played a really good all-around game last night,” New Haven Head Coach Doug Peirick said. “The girls played with lots of intensity on both ends of the court and we beat a good team.”

Peirick said the Lady Shamrocks worked to control play outside Warrenton’s post player, Kayla Nelson.

“Unless they got the ball into the big girl inside, we were able to make them take shots that I’m really not sure they wanted to take,” Peirick said. “On our offensive end of the court, I thought we handled their pressure defense well all night long and were able to get good open looks at the basket and make shots.”

Emily Scheer led New Haven with 22 points, including six three-point baskets.

Lauren Gerlemann netted 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Kate Ruediger netted 10 points.

Emma Engelbrecht had five points, six assists and five steals.

Mackenzie Bauer added two points.

New Haven knocked down six three-point shots and was 14-16 from the free-throw line.

Warrenton’s statistics weren’t available as of deadline.
