Haven proved to be better than Bloomfield in the game of the New schools Friday night in New Haven.

The host Shamrocks (5-5) defeated New Bloomfield in the final game of 2018, 68-60.

New Haven jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter and was able to hold on for the rest of the game.

The Shamrocks were up 32-26 at the half and 49-40 through three quarters.

Statistics were not available as of deadline.

New Haven returns from the Christmas break Jan. 4 to host St. James in Four Rivers Conference action.

New Haven then heads to the South Callaway Tournament. The Shamrocks will take on Montgomery County Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the opening round.

Montgomery County edged the Shamrocks Dec. 18, 44-42. Montgomery County is the third seed and New Haven is sixth for that tournament.

New Bloomfield also is in the South Callaway Tournament and is seeded fourth. New Bloomfield opens play against No. 5 Vienna.

Hermann is the top seed and faces Calvary Lutheran in the opening round. North Callaway is second and faces the host team.
