They have a parade to plan in New Haven.

The Shamrocks laid claim Saturday to the state cross country championship in Class 1 with a team score of 94. The Lady Shamrocks were state runners up to West Platte by a score of 104-109.

New Haven had three individual medalists; Emma McIntyre in fifth in the girls race and Joseph Rethmeyer, 11th, and Nathan Ford, 18th, in the boys race.

In Class 4 girls, Mikayla Reed took third place behind a pair of runners from Blue Springs South that included 2016 state runner-up Victoria Findley. The Lady Jays finished fifth with a team score of 150. Park Hill South won the state title in that division with 92 points.

At the Class 3 level, Owensville’s girls placed sixth in the state with 170 points. On the boys side, Pacific placed 10th with 252 points and Borgia 13th with 287. Festus edged Herculaneum 108-110 for the Class 3 girls title. Festus also took the boys title in Class 3 with 55 points.

Class 3 area individual medalists include Owensville’s Sophia Ashner in fourth and Sullivan’s Maggie Jones in 15th. Individual runners from St. Clair, Pacific and Borgia qualified for the girls race, but did not reach the podium. Likewise with a pair of boys runners from St. Clair.
