Neither time nor location mattered for the Borgia basketball Lady Knights.

Borgia (13-11) defeated Westminster Christian Academy (8-16) on the road Wednesday night in a game which was both rescheduled and relocated, 53-29.

“We were able to pick up a win on the road against Westminster,” Borgia Head Coach Stacia Houlihan said. “Grace Gettemeier really got us going with some hot shooting early in the game.”

The game originally was to be played at Borgia Friday, but with the start of the Class 4 District 6 Tournament scheduled for Saturday, the game was moved back to Wednesday so that Borgia wouldn’t be playing three days in a row.

With the date change, the location also had to switch as the Borgia boys already had a home game scheduled for Wednesday night.

So Borgia hit the road and went to Westminster, where it recorded the win.

The Lady Knights led 11-6 after one quarter and 28-13 at the half. It was 45-23 after three quarters.

Gettemeier, a junior, led the way offensively with 21 points. She knocked down four three-point baskets and also had five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot.

Senior Cassidy Moss scored 14 points with five assists and one rebound.

Sophomore Julia Struckhoff netted six points with a rebound and a steal.

Freshman Avery Lackey scored four points with 10 rebounds, four blocked shots and an assist.

Juniors Anya Castelli, Lynnae Grus, Britney Harriman and Dani Kimminau each had two points.

Castelli also had six rebounds, three assists and a steal. Grus pulled down three rebounds and added two assists and two steals. Harriman had two rebounds. Kimminau added three steals, an assist and a rebound.

Hannah Herbst pulled down a rebound.

Borgia faces Parkway West Saturday in Union to start the postseason. The Lady Longhorns are 7-17. Borgia is seeded third while Parkway West is the sixth seed for the district tournament. The winner of that game plays Monday.
