The Lady Jays dove back into the pool Wednesday for the start of the winter swim season.
Ft. Zumwalt North was the winner of the tri-meet, scoring 130 points to top Hannibal’s 100 and Washington’s 88.
Clairese Kluba was Washington’s lone event winner in the meet. She won the 200 freestyle race in 2:41.6.
The Lady Jays’ 200 freestyle relay team finished second, but notched Washington’s first state consideration time of the season in 2:40.7. Aubrie Moreland, Maddy Tchiblakian, McKenzie Dohm and Abby Loesing swam that race for Washington.
“Tough meet, but a good first outing for the girls,” Washington Head Coach Lane Page said.
In addition to her first-place race, Kluba took second in the 100 backstroke in 1:23.65.
Moreland placed second in two races, finishing the 200 individual medley in 2:37.92 and the 500 freestyle in 6:11.2.
Dohm also recorded two individual second-place finishes. She completed the 50 freestyle in 28.4 and the 100 freestyle in 1:04.9.
Loesing finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:24.2.
Third-place finishes for Washington included:
• 200 medley relay team of Moreland, Tchiblakian, Loesing and Dohm in 2:14.56;
• Loesing in the 200 individual medley in 3:06.01;
• Tchiblakian in the 100 freestyle in 1:09.94; and
• Tchiblakian in the 100 breaststroke in 1:25.77.
Eureka own a home dual against Washington Thursday, 203-92.
“This was a very powerful team,” Page said of the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Jays won the 200 freestyle relay.

Washington next swims Tuesday in a tri-meet at McCluer North that will also include McCluer.
