Lady Jays volleyball were winners on the road at Owensville Monday.
Washington (6-3-1) topped the Dutchgirls (6-2) in three sets, 25-23, 21-25, 25-18.
“It was a battle,” Washington Head Coach Susan Harms said. “We had a tough time putting the ball down, however I give a lot of credit to Owensville. They played great defense. They have a good team. We need to eliminate our hitting and serving errors. We had too many last night, which stopped any runs we had going.”
Kassidy Phillips led Washington with 13 kills on the night.
Josie Kleekamp added nine kills. Taylor Bauer notched four kills, Lacy Jaycox two and Abby Redd and Josie Kleinheider had one apiece.
Redd blocked two and Phillips one.
Emma Zanin made 16 assists.
Jackie Oetterer assisted with nine.
Liberto Kate Freitag was credited with 46 digs.
Other digs in the Washington scorebook included Phillips with 33, Kleekamp with 26, Cierstyn Jacquin with 17 and Zanin with 14.
The Lady Jays are next in action Tuesday on the road at Ft. Zumwalt North in conference play. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
