Jumping back into the win column, the Union basketball Lady ’Cats rolled to a 65-42 win over Lutheran North Monday at the Orchard Farm Tournament.

Union (2-1), the defending runner-up, gets Orchard Farm Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the semifinals.

“Orchard Farm will pressure us with small guards,” Union Head Coach Grant Young said. “We will focus all year at playing at a fast tempo. We need to keep working on our defense and rebounding to get us into our transition game.

Two seniors hit double digits for the Lady ’Cats. Whitney Vitt scored 17 while Rachael Bassett ended with 10 points.

Bethany Coons scored nine points, Jillian Johnston added eight, Alyssa Coons scored seven, Abbie Brack ended with six and Briana Lakebrink and Anna Houston scored four points apiece.

“It’s a great luxury having so many options on the offensive end of the floor,” Young stated.

Other tournament results from Monday night were St. Charles defeating Lift for Life, 57-15, Granite City taking down Francis Howell North, 40-26.
