Thursday was a huge day for Zone 4 at the Missouri State Junior Legion Tournament in Jackson.
Host Jackson (31-7) edged Springfield Glendale, 3-2, while Zone 4 champion Eureka shut out Sedalia, 7-0.
In the Jackson-Glendale game, Jackson took advantage of two runs in the bottom of the second and held on behind the pitching of Zach Elfrink, who turned in six perfect innings.
However, Glendale broke through in the seventh to tie it. Jackson scored in the bottom of the seventh on a bad hop hit which plated Garrett Reynolds.
Drew Thiemann took the loss for Glendale.
In the other game, Eureka Post 177 continued its run with a 7-0 shutout of Sedalia Post 642. No other information on that game was available as of press time.
Four games are on the schedule for Friday, starting with the noon game between Washington and Jackson.
At 2:30 p.m., Springfield Glendale takes on Sedalia in an elimination game.
The noon winner gets Eureka at 5:30 p.m. in the winners’ bracket final.
The day concludes with the Washington-Jackson loser taking on the Springfield Glendale-Sedalia winner at 7:30 p.m.
