New Haven’s bid for a second upset in the Montgomery County Tournament fell short Thursday night.
Second-seeded Fulton defeated the Shamrocks, 47-37.
That means New Haven (2-2) will match up against Four Rivers Conference rival Hermann for third place Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
The top-seeded Bearcats were upset by Bowling Green Thursday in the other semifinal, 51-42.
It will be the first of four possible meetings this season between the rivals.
In Thursday’s game, Fulton led 10-5 after one quarter and 14-13 at the half. Fulton held a 31-20 lead after three quarters.
Jay Eichelberger and Trent Kormeier tied for the New Haven scoring lead with eight points apiece.
Ethan Groner was next with seven points. Joseph Rethemeyer scored six while Martin Lewis and Luke Gerlemann had four points apiece.
New Haven knocked down three three-point baskets and went 4-7 from the free-throw line.
AJ Reid led the Hornets with 13 points while Tyler Sayler also reached double digits with 10 points.
Anthony Payne closed with seven points, Taeon Logan netted six and John Adams scored five.
AJ Henderson, Giante Galbreath and Jacob Potter netted two points apiece for Fulton.
The Hornets hit two three-point baskets and went 9-15 from the free-throw line.
