The 2014 Franklin County Silver Games are scheduled to begin on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Registration is now underway. The Olympic-style competition features more than 50 different events.
This will be the 25th anniversary of the Silver Games, which promotes the health and wellness of men and women 50 years of age and older by providing them with opportunities to compete in numerous events.

The first events of the Silver Games are scheduled to begin on Saturday, Sept. 6, with tennis beginning at 8 a.m. at Phoenix Park, with water volleyball beginning at 8 a.m. at the Four Rivers YMCA.
Cycling and swimming events will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, with the cycling starting at the Washington Fairgrounds Pavilion at 8 a.m. The swimming begins at 2 p.m. at the Four Rivers YMCA. Also held on Sunday will be volleyball for men and women. Volleyball matches will be held at Union High School with a 10:30 a.m. start.
Numerous events are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8. Golf at Sullivan Country Club will begin at 7:45 a.m. and mini golf will be held at Big Driver in Washington starting at 8 a.m. N Sports Rec Center will host shuffleboard singles at 11 a.m. and doubles at 2 p.m. Canasta and bridge competitions will be held Monday in St. Clair. The canasta event will begin at noon at St. Clair Senior Center, while bridge starts at noon at St. Clair Knights of Columbus Hall. Bocce ball will be held at N Sports Rec Center at 5 p.m.
Tuesday’s events include billiards, bowling, darts, horseshoes, sporting clay and BB gun target shooting.
A BB gun shoot will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Union Jaycees Park pavilion, with billiards (8-ball and 9-ball) starting at 8 and 10 a.m. at Oasis Lanes in Union. Bowling follows at Oasis Lanes at 11 a.m, with the site also hosting electronic darts at 2 p.m. The sporting clay competition will be held Tuesday at St. Louis Skeet Trap Club in Pacific at 4 p.m. The Union City Park (Jaycees Fairgrounds) will host horseshoes on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the track and field events begin at Pacific High School at 6:30 a.m. A pickleball competition will begin at N Sports Rec Center at 1 p.m. Tri-County Senior Center in Pacific will host dominoes at 2 p.m. and the washers competition will begin at 5 p.m. at N Sports Rec Center.
There will be table tennis and pinochle games on Thursday, Sept. 11, along with the dancing contests. The pinochle games begin at 7:30 a.m. at St. Clair Knights of Columbus. Table tennis will get started at Washington City Auditorium at 8 a.m. The dance contests will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair at 9:30 a.m.
The annual picnic will begin at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair on Thursday at noon.
There will be a catered meal at the picnic, but there will be no raffles.
