Washington’s Lady Jays (0-10) will be playing for consolation the rest of the way at the Warrenton Girls Basketball Shootout.
The Lady Jays were defeated in the first round Monday, 57-19, by the tournament’s No. 1 seed, Francis Howell North (8-4).
“Early in the game we had some good moments,” Washington Head Coach Doug Light said.
Avery Street led the Lady Jays in scoring with five points.
Clara Evans was next with four points.
Paige Robinson and Grace Landwehr scored three points each.
Halaina O’Bryant and Jessie Huxol both added two points.
In the consolation semifinals, Washington will match up with Moberly (5-5) after the Lady Spartans were defeated by Hannibal (4-3) Monday, 41-33. That game is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday.
In the other first-round games, Wentzville Liberty (6-4) defeated O’Fallon Christian (1-11), 41-11, and Warrenton (4-6) defeated Transportation & Law (2-9), 58-16.
The Lady Jays will have the first of Wednesday’s games, followed by the other consolation semifinal between O’Fallon Christian and Transportation & Law.
The winners will meet in the consolation final Friday at 5:30 p.m. The two losers will play for seventh place Friday at 4 p.m.
On the championship side of the bracket, the semifinals will begin Wednesday at 7 p.m. Hannibal and Francis Howell North will be the first of those two games, followed by Warrenton against Wentzville Liberty.
Friday’s third-place game will take place at 7 p.m. with the championship to follow at 8:30.
