Festus Lady Tigers basketball started off the season with a win Thursday.

The Lady Tigers opened the season with a 64-55 home victory against Pacific (1-1) in nonleague play.

Festus led 18-14 after one quarter and 31-26 at the half.

That lead continued to gradually grow with two more points of separation in the third period with Festus taking a 44-37 advantage into the final period.

Senior point guard Maddie King led a trio of Lady Indians to get into double figures scoring in the contest.

King knocked down 16 points with seven steals, four rebounds, two assists and one blocked shot.

Delia Toney added 15 points and seven rebounds with four blocks, two steals and one assist.

Grace Burrows netted 12 points with two steals and one assist.

Cori O’Neill notched nine points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

Madison Brocato rounded out the Pacific scoring with three points. Brocato also recorded three rebounds and one assist.

Annie Mueller contributed one rebound and one assist.

Morgann Harrison was credited with two assists.

The Lady Indians are in action next week in a round-robin tournament at Whitfield. Pacific tips off in the first game of the tournament Monday at 6 p.m. against the host team.

John Burroughs and Gateway STEM are the other teams participating.
