Scoring was at a premium Thursday as the Cuba Lady Wildcats edged New Haven, 29-28.

Cuba (3-5) managed to hold on after scoring eight points in the second half. New Haven (6-4) led 10-9 after one quarter, but the Lady Wildcats were up 21-14 at the half. It was 25-22 after three quarters.

Emma Engelbrecht led New Haven in scoring with eight points. She also had three assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Lauren Gerlemann scored six points with eight rebounds, two steals, an assist and a blocked shot.

Mackenzie Bauer and Kate Ruediger scored five points apiece. Bauer also had two rebounds. Ruediger recorded three steals with two rebounds.

Emily Scheer scored four points with two rebounds and one blocked shot.

New Haven is playing this week in the South Callaway Tournament. The Lady Shamrocks won their first-round game over Russellville. New Haven will play the host team in the second round Wednesday.

Cuba is playing in the Union Tournament this week. The Lady Wildcats are seeded seventh and play Jefferson City Tuesday in the first round.
