It’s a new era for the Crosspoint Christian School girls basketball Lady Cougars.
Crosspoint, which finished third in last year’s MCSAA Class 3A state tournament, has a new look this season.
The Lady Cougars (22-2) graduated the Young triplets, Haly, Hope and Hana, who provided most of the scoring and rebounding in recent seasons. They’re at Missouri Valley College in Marshall now.
The team also has a new coaching staff. Leigh Howard, last year’s head coach, gave birth in the offseason and the school has brought back former coaches, Eric and Gina Winslow, to run the team this season.
This year’s team has eight returning players from last year with no seniors.
The two juniors on this year’s team are Sara Blackburn and Trinity Smith. Rachel Smith, Emily Bratch and Hannah Knudsvig are sophomores while Emma Thomas and Elaina Carson are freshmen.
The team has a returning eighth-grade student with Julie Winslow coming back. Newcomers are seventh-graders Ava Weldy, Morgan Bratch, Lia Cobb and Gracia Mehrhoff.
After an alumnae game Nov. 10, the Lady Cougars open the regular season with a home conference game against Liberty Christian of Wright City. The varsity girls game starts at 6 p.m.
