Closing out the regular season, the Crosspoint Christian School basketball teams faced Rivers of Life Thursday and Christian Fellowship Friday.

Crosspoint’s boys (14-3) split, losing to Rivers of Life, 62-51 and beating Christian Fellowship, 68-46.

The Crosspoint girls (6-11) lost Thursday to Rivers of Life, 48-42, and to Christian Fellowship, 59-15.

Both teams play this week in the MAC Tournament.


Against Christian Fellowship, the Cougars jumped out to a 24-12 lead after one quarter and were up 43-26 at the half. It was 57-36 after three quarters.

“We had to adjust at halftime as the officiating was consistent in calling a tight game,” Crosspoint Head Coach Scott Weldy said. “We adapted very well and I was pleased. It also helps when you shoot well from the outside.”

Nate Davis and Sam Coons each ended with 21 points to lead the Cougars. Davis also had five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Coons added eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and a blocked shot.

Luke Aholt scored 13 points with nine rebounds.

AJ Nantz added nine points, 12 rebounds, six blocked shots and three steals.

Nic Blocker scored three points with four rebounds and a steal. Isaiah Weible scored one point. David Coroama added three rebounds.

Against Rivers of Life, Crosspoint led 17-15 after one quarter, but trailed 33-27 at the half. Rivers of Life led 50-38 after three quarters.

Coons recorded a double-double with 25 points and 17 rebounds. He also had two assists, two blocked shots and a steal.

Davis scored 12 points with nine rebounds and three steals.

Blocker and Aholt each scored six points. Blocker had two rebounds. Aholt pulled down six rebounds with three assists and two steals.

Nantz added two points, three rebounds and two blocked shots.

Coroama posted five rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot and a steal.


Rivers of Life jumped ahead after one quarter, 12-6, and led 25-19 at the half. It was 37-25 through three quarters.

Sara Blackburn recorded another double-double in the game with 20 points and 22 rebounds. She also had five steals and two assists.

Rachel Smith scored 12 points with a rebound.

Elaina Carson netted six points.

Trinity Smith and Ava Weldy each scored two points. Trinity Smith had three assists and three rebounds. Weldy also had a rebound.

Morgan Bratch added an assist and a rebound. Emma Thomas had a steal.

Against Christian Fellowship, Crosspoint led 6-5 after a quarter, but that was the highlight for the Lady Cougars.

It was 12-7 at the half and 38-15 after three quarters.

Blackburn led the scoring surge with nine points. She also had 12 rebounds and two steals.

Lia Cobb and Hannah Knudsvig scored three points apiece. Cobb added one rebound and Knudsvig had three rebounds.

Rachel Smith added four rebounds and a steal. Trinity Smith pulled down three rebounds. Carson had one rebound.
