Looking to finish with a win, the St. James Lady Tigers played Friday afternoon in Columbia for third place in the MSHSAA Class 3 state tournament.

The Lady Tigers (25-5) fell Friday afternoon to Cameron (20-11) in the Class 3 semifinals at Mizzou Arena, 68-53.

The Lady Tigers took on North Tech (20-7) as The Weekend Missourian was going to press. The game tipped off at 1:40 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.

A win would match the highest-ever finish for the Lady Tigers. St. James also finished third in Class 4 in 2004 and 2005.

Cameron plays St. Charles Lutheran (27-4) Saturday for the championship.

St. James never led in the game, but did cut the gap to three points twice in the third quarter.

Cameron led 12-8 after one quarter, 34-23 at the half and 46-37 after three quarters.

Cameron dominated the boards in the game, outrebounding St. James by a 49-19 margin. St. James did force 22 turnovers while only making seven, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the rebounding difference.

St. James was paced by MJ Buschmann, who scored 17 points with five rebounds and two steals.

Shauna Rinehart came off the bench to net 13 points with one rebound and one steal.

Alexis Uffmann added 10 points, five steals, three assists and two rebounds.

Ashlee Marlatt had five points with three rebounds and two assists.

Ali Kean ended with three points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Alison McDowell and Hanna Perona scored two points apiece. McDowell also had five rebounds and three steals. Perona added one rebound and one steal.

Emma Rogers scored one point.

Two Cameron players ended with double-doubles.

Ashli Lykins scored 29 points with 11 rebounds and two steals.

Taylor Hamilton scored 10 points with 12 rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Melia Richardson scored 19 points with five rebounds.

, three assists and three steals.

Maizey Hughes scored five points with six rebounds and one assist.

Ashley Wills and Sarah Garver scored two points apiece. Wills also had two rebounds and a blocked shot. Garver added one assist.

Brooke Lee scored one point with four rebounds, one assist and a blocked shot.

Taylor Newsom pulled down two rebounds.
