Borgia swimmers took first place in four different events at the Ft. Zumwalt North Invitational Saturday.

Borgia placed fifth and Washington eighth in the total team scores. Francis Howell took first with 379 points. Borgia totaled 256 and Washington 120.

Borgia’s 200 Medley Relay team of Jeffery VanDeven, Colton Lewis, Andrew Simily and Robert Halsted placed first with a time of 1:51:81. The Knights’ 400 Freestyle Relay team of VanDeven, Simily, Halsted and Derek VanBooven also placed first with a time of 3:41.46.

Simily additionally placed first in the 200 Freestyle (1:57.71) and the 100 Butterfly (56.57).

In the 200 Medley Relay, Washington’s team of Ryan Coates, Spencer Coates, Mason Kauffeld and Ira Black placed sixth with a time of 2:06.57.

For the 400 Freestyle Relay, the Blue Jays’ foursome of Kauffeld, Spencer Coates, Cohen Scheel and Ryan Coates swam in seventh with a time of 4:36.60.

Running against Simily in the 100 Butterfly, Kauffeld placed eighth and Black 16th for the Blue Jays. Lewis finished 10th in the contest for Borgia.

Miles Hellebusch swam 16th for Washington against Simily in the 200 Freestyle.

Halsted placed second for the Knights in the 100 Freestyle with  a time of 50.48. He was out-touched by Lutheran-Christian’s Matt States by four-tenths of a second. VanBooven placed 10th in that race with a time of 1:00.34. Washington’s Ryan Coates finished seventh in the race at 57:10 and Zane Johnson was 16th at 1:07.44.

Lewis swam third for Borgia in the 100 Breaststroke, posting a time of 1:12.08. Kyler Shelby swam 11th for the Knights in the same race, followed by Washington’s Black in 12th.

In the 50 Freestyle, Halsted finished third with a time of 23.27. Drew Smith of Borgia placed ninth. Ryan Coates placed 12th for the Blue Jays.

Borgia’s 200 Freestyle Relay ran fifth with a time of 1:46.65. It was swum by Ryan Kluesner, Smith, Lewis and VanBooven. Washington’s team of Spencer Coates, Kaden Inserra, Ira Black and Zane Johnson finished seventh in that race with a time of 1:57.22.

Ryan Coates had a third-place finish for Washington in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:03.86. VanDeven finished right behind him for Borgia at 1:04.11. Another Knight, VanBooven, placed ninth in that race. Riley Mathews placed 18th in the event for the Blue Jays.

Kauffeld swam fifth for the Blue Jays in the 200 Individual Medley, posting a time of 2:22.49. VanDeven and Kluesner finished ninth and 12th respectively for Borgia in the event.

Kluesner recorded a fifth-place finish for Borgia in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 6:07.31. Drew Smith finished ninth in that race for the Knights. Inserra and Scheel finished 15th and 17th respectively for Washington in that race.
