Playing at Wolf Hollow Golf Club Thursday on Senior Night, Brad Carpenter put on a display.

The Washington senior carded a round of 29, six strokes under par, to lead the Blue Jays over GAC Central rival Ft. Zumwalt South, 148-176.

Carpenter posted six birdies, including the final four holes. He shot pars on the other three holes.

“Brad was on fire, great approach shots lead to numerous chances at birdie, sinking six,” Washington Coach Tim Buschmann said. “He has had 29 before at FCCC from the tips, but not under match competition.”

Sebastian Hommes, the other senior, shot 41 in the match.

“Both seniors have been great representatives for WHS, always helping when needed, and leading younger players to become better,” Buschmann said.

Eric Hasenjaeger shot 36 while freshman Matt Hoemann carded 38. Hunter Mahon checked in at 41.

Ft. Zumwalt South won the JV match, 174-212.

Ft. Zumwalt North

Playing Tuesday at Wolf Hollow Golf Club, the Blue Jays swept Ft. Zumwalt North in action.

Washington won the varsity match, 149-184.

Carpenter won medalist honors, shooting one stroke below par at 34.

“Brad is starting to reach mid season form, long drives off the tee, with great putting to finish out holes,” Buschmann said. “We’re looking for him to really be ready for the conference tournament and then the district tournament which is at Wolf Hollow this year.”

Hasenjaeger was next at 36 while Hoemann ended at 38.

Mahon and Hommes each shot 41.

Washington also won the JV match, 183-232.

“It was a good round by both JV and varsity,” Buschmann said. “Wolf Hollow is really starting to turn on. The greens are coming in and the rough getting long. It’s a good time for all to get out and play.”
