Pacific jumped on Owensville early and often in a dominating Four Rivers Conference baseball victory Monday afternoon.

The Indians (4-1, 1-0) led 22-0 after two innings, scoring 11 runs in both the top of the first and second innings, in a 23-3 five-inning victory at Owensville (0-5, 0-1).

Pacific added a run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 23-0 before the Dutchmen scored three times in the bottom of the fifth.

“Overall, it was a good game for us. Our top five guys in the lineup had four at-bats in the first two innings,” said Pacific Head Coach Jeff Reed. “We’ve talked a lot about our approach at the plate. Our approach wasn’t very good against Borgia. We did a much better job taking walks and putting the ball in play. We took advantage of some of their mistakes.”

Nick Hogan got the start on the mound for Pacific and earned the win. In three innings, he allowed no runs on one hit with one walk and four strikeouts.

Eain Roberts pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing three runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Austin Muich, a freshman, recorded the final two outs in the fifth inning. He allowed no runs or hits with one walk and one strikeout.

“Nick did fine for three innings and then started falling behind hitters. He wasn’t focused at that point of the game, so we took him out,” Reed said. “It was an opportunity for us to get some of our younger players’ feet wet and give them some playing time.”

The Indians collected 17 hits and eight walks in the contest.

Allen Fitzgerald was 3-4 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Hank Vandaveer reached base five times with two hits, two walks and one hit batsman to go with three RBIs and three runs.

Tyler Straatmann recorded two hits, one walk, three RBIs and three runs.

Jake Null collected two hits, five RBIs and two runs.

James Howie finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs.

Hunter Finney had two hits, was hit by a pitch, and scored two runs.

Tanner Brown had one hit, two walks, two RBIs and two runs.

Zeth Boyer recorded one hit, two walks and three runs.

Brandon Colter added one hit, two runs and one RBI.

Dalton Mathis had one hit and one RBI.

Ryan Howell scored three runs. Noah Boyer scored once.

“Everyone contributed offensively,” Reed said. “It was nice to get a lot of different guys involved."
