For the second time this season and the third time in his career, Pacific High School sophomore guard Cullen VanLeer earned most valuable player honors in a tournament.

VanLeer was named the MVP of the Union Tournament following the Indians’ 54-46 victory Saturday over Lutheran South.

Also a two-time Owensville Tournament MVP, VanLeer averaged 17.3 points in Pacific’s three tournament games. He scored 24 points in the championship game against Lutheran South.

Also representing Pacific on the 10-player all-tournament team were senior forward Zeth Boyer and junior guard Tanner Brown.

Brown scored 20 points in the semifinal win over St. Clair and had 12 fourth-quarter points against Lutheran South.

Boyer gave the Indians a spark in all phases, particularly offense, defense and rebounding.

Representing St. Clair was senior guard Neyko Dominguez, who averaged 18.6 points per game during the tournament in leading the Bulldogs third place.

Other players named to the all-tournament team were Lutheran South’s Parker Van Nest, Brandon Downey and Lezoghia Meneh, Crystal City’s Peyton Pollock and Bryan DeGear and Festus’ Travis Spraul.
